ABOUT
Hello and welcome to my website with a few details about who I am, what I do and where I do it.

I am a Counselling and Sport Psychologist and live in Grahamstown, South Africa.

After Matriculating at Kingswood College, I completed my Undergrad, Honours and Masters (Counselling Psychology) degrees at Rhodes University.

In 2008, I started a 1-year taught MSc degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University in the UK.

I returned to South Africa in late 2009 and started working in Private Practice in 2011.

My current Practice covers a range of Counselling and Sport Psychology related issues with particular focus on adolescents and young adults.

I have had the privilege to work with Physiotherapists, Biokineticists, coaches, schools, and young sportsmen and women from a range of different sporting codes and performance levels.

In addition to my private work, I work part-time at the Rhodes University Counselling Centre as a Senior Psychologist and Supervisor.

I am also a contract lecturer in the Clinical and Counselling Psychology Masters course at Rhodes University and have lectured on topics such as 'Professional Identity and Practice', 'Group Therapy', 'HIV / Aids and Mental Health' and 'Couples Therapy'.

I am currently registered as a PhD student through Stellenbosch University. My research focuses on the narratives of male disabled athletes with acquired physical disabilities.

I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
As a Counselling Psychologist, I deal with a broad range of psychological, social, emotional and family related issues; many of which we encounter on a daily basis.
This might include; depression, anxiety and other mood disorders, relationship problems, coping and stress-related issues, adjustment disorders, bereavement counselling, family relationships, academic functioning and other psychological and emotional matters.

My expertise in Sport Psychology means that I sometimes work with children, adolescents and adults who are dealing with problems related to sport, exercise, performance or physical activity.
This might include; coping with pressure, managing injury, motivation, mental skills, resilience / mental toughness and relationships within sporting communities such as athletes and coaches or parents and children.

I also conduct short workshops and presentations on a range of issues related to Counselling and Sport Psychology. Most of my recent work has focused on holistic school sport programs, coaching enhacement and education, and adopting a developmental approach to athlete development and physical activity in school sports.
